I had the most magical day on Sunday (8th of February)
Luke and I went for a drive up to Otterburn Hall as there was a wedding fayre on. To say that Otterburn Hall was gorgeous is am understatement. It was absolutely stunning. The drive up there was so picturesque. Driving along the country roads as the snow covered the fields with a foot of snow.
As we drove through the gates along the driveway with sound rounding forestry leading up to the Hall, we started falling in love with Otterburn Hall straight away. We then set our eyes about the Hall and my first reaction was 'WOW'!
As we got out of the car we could hear all of the birds in the trees singing. We entered the hall through an arched door to enter the potential venue to have our wedding ceremony and reception. As we went in we were greeted by two of the reception staff who were really friendly and asked if we wanted to speak with the wedding co ordinator or if we would like to just look around by ourselves, we were also offered a glass of there non alcoholic punch.
Luke and I decided to look around the venue first before speaking with the co ordinator to see if we liked what we saw...and so far we did.
We poured ourselves some punch into two lovely tall champagne glasses and set on our way to look around. We first stood next to one of the two open fire places with a crackling fire blazing gently that they had in the reception and warmed up a bit whilst we admired the views from the long country windows looking out onto the gardens.
We moved on to the next room which was the dinning room, with tables for two to larger tables, we then moved on to on of the most stunning rooms that they had there, it was so stunning I'm keeping it a secret until our wedding day as I want it to be a surprise for everyone to see.
We spent quite sometime in this room as I just didn't want to leave and I knew straight away that this would be the room I would want to say my vows in.
We then moved onto see the marquee that they had erect all year round. It was so pretty inside. It had wooden flooring, soft drapes across the celling which really set off the the chandeliers. I had a few twirls on the dance floor. I couldn't resist it, the marquee did look like balloon :)
We moved back into the hall to continue looking around in the different rooms they had to offer for wedding ceremonies. We saw one of the other smaller rooms that they had to offer for more intimate weddings. the room was lovely but by this time I was already in love with the other room that I saw earlier.
after looking around the rooms and being congratulated by the other members of staff we decided to ask to speak with the wedding co ordinator. We were asked to wait a few moments as he was already with another couple. We sat next to the open fire again, so happy that we had both found our dream wedding venue :)
The wedding co ordinator came over and introduced himself and asked what he could do for us. We then told him that we were interested in the 'secret room' and asked a range of questions and afterwards we asked if we could walk around the gardens. We went outside and started playing in the snow. We re-attached the arms to a helpless snowman and then went running through the snow and in the middle of doing so I lost both my shoes so had to go running back for them :) We went over to see the completely frozen lake where Luke decided it would be a good idea to try and stand on it with one foot. And as you may have guessed that didn't work out too great as his foot went straight through and ended up with a drenched foot and leg. The ice that broke off was rather big and was about an inch thick when Luke picked it up. After Luke's 'oops' moment we decided that it would be a good idea to make our way back to the car and drive back at home.
This was definitely one of the most magical and fun day I've had. I think it was because I knew that this is where we will be saying.....
